Sniffles, Snuggles & Sneezes

So our little Giuliana has been experiencing her first 'under the weather week'. I say under the weather rather than sick because she really isn't acting sick, just stuffed up--no fever, no cough, no vomiting--we think it is directly related to teething. Which, speaking of, there are still NO teeth. This is a joke. It's as if she has been teething for friggin ever. Just come already and then leave us alone for a while! Anyway, she's been extremely stuffed up with the runniest nose I have ever seen. I wouldn't have believed how much snot could really come out of a child's nose. Like, whoa. It all started last Sunday when I went to get her out of her crib in the morning and noticed a giant snot glob resting below her nose and above her lip...on the verge of making its way down to her mouth. Oh no! I scurried around the room for a wipe and cleaned her up just in time. I decided to forgo our morning walk and keep her inside and she still seemed tired, so we snuggled on the couch and she fell asleep. Fast forward 5 days, emails to the doctor, saline spray, snot suctioning and a few long nights, she is still stuffed up. Breaks my heart to see my baby turned mouth-breather dripping in snot and drool all day long. This hasn't slowed her down in the playing department, however. She's mastered holding her bottle and is now thisclose to crawling! She can scoot around and turn, but she hasn't quite figured out how to use her arms and legs at the same time. Although she doesn't seem amused, we certainly are when we see that her head is buried in the ground because she got her legs to work but not the arms. You can't help but chuckle a little inside when her butt is up in the air and she sort of looks like a little snail.

Being that she is super stuffed up, and still drooling ALL over the place, resulting in 6 outfit changes a day and a bazillion bibs, she has a hard time breathing when sleeping or trying to eat. The very day we got our whole house cleaned and she was eating avocado for dinner, a sneeze came on at the worst possible time. What do you get with a mouth full of avocado, mom's face in your face, and a sparkly clean dinner table and floor? You see where I'm going with this...it went ALL OVER me and the table. Why do we even bother?? After the initial shock, we did have a laugh. But still. Not cool.

Just a glimpse of the mess that it was
So, we're hoping little G gets rid of this runny nose soon and gains some teeth along the way so we can all have a break from this awesome milestone.
