Giuliana's First Easter

We had a very nice and relaxing first Easter with Giuliana this year. We were at the park with family, sunshine, and tons of food. It was such a beautiful day, I even got myself a nice sunburn. Giuliana is getting used to the swings and the sand and had a great time playing with everyone. She also received TONS of Easter gifts, some of them even making their way from the east coast! Thank you all so much! She is one lucky girl :)

She had two dresses we were going to put her in, but by the time she woke up from a nap and we headed to the park, we just chose one and decided on this purple number. Don't worry, she did have a headband to go with this dress but I dropped the ball on snapping five thousand pictures of her all throughout the day. Bad mommy.

Once that was no longer practical for the beautiful weather, and the fact that she wanted to crawl around all over the place, we opted for a more casual bunny dress and festive floppy bunny ears! Oh and a cute fedora.

She had so much fun outside, I can't wait to see what this summer will bring!

Springing into Spring

Well, a couple of exciting updates about Giuliana before the holiday weekend:

1. We. Have. A. Tooth! Yes, yes finally! You're telling me right?? So last week I swore I could feel a little poke and sure enough there is that tooth we've all been waiting for! It is really visible now but I still can't imagine what she will look like with a full on tooth. She is still getting used to the whole thing too because I often catch her moving her mouth in all sorts of weird ways to feel it.

2. Girl is on the GOOOOO! She does not stop moving. Like ever! She is constantly crawling around and now she's trying to use me and our furniture as stability for trying to stand up on her own. Whoaaaa girlfriend, take it easy.

3. I have figured out the perfect combination of propping up our pillows so the little Miss can feed herself  while I make the rest of her meal. Or refill my wine glass. Just kidding! But seriously...

Pre-Easter Fun!

Giuliana is gearing up for her first Easter! My little babe is already getting in the spirit for the Easter bunny. I can't wait for her to get excited for the holidays throughout the year, but for now, the celebrations are pretty much for Karl and I. Ok fine, probably just me. I'm still putting together her first Easter basket and even if she doesn't understand or even care what's inside, because we all know she will be more interested in the basket itself, I'll be all warm and fuzzy inside :)

For now, here is a little preview of some of the outfits she will be wearing next week!

These dresses are so cute I wish she was going to be able to wear them more, but seeing as she is growing like crazy, these little babies will probably only be worn for this special occasion. Once she's over them, or more realistically, pukes on them, she's going straight into this adorable bunny dress with leggings!

Month Six & Seven Favorites

Obviously I'm behind on the list of our favorite items, but that's ok. Here are some of our must haves right now!

1. Munchkin Fresh Food Feeder
These are amazing for teething babies and to keep the little ones busy. We cut up fruit or buy the frozen variety packs and put a few pieces in there for her to gnaw on. Clearly mangoes are her favorite :) The cold feels great on her gums and it keeps her entertained for quite a while. It's a win for everyone!
2. Itzy Ritzy Snack Bags
These are great because they come in different sizes, but basically they are cute reusable bags with a liner in them to keep whatever you have in there from leaking and they are machine washable. Great for toting around headbands, chapstick, spoons, snacks and all sorts of good stuff. And they have a ton of cute prints.
3. NoseFrida
This thing came in handy when Giuliana was going through her really bad runny nose episode. You literally suck the snot right out of their noses. Sounds gross, which it is, but also very rewarding when you help your baby breathe again!
4. Playtex Sipster Cup
So far, these have been Giuliana's favorite first sippy cups. I'm sure we will go through thousands, but these have been the easiest for her to get used to.
5. Fisher Price Rock-a-Stack
A classic of course! Ok so she obviously hasn't figured out yet how to use this stacker, but she does like all of the rings and the top one has a fun design. They are easy for her to hold and put straight in her mouth, and now when they roll away on the hard wood floor, she can crawl after them :)

Look at this smiley girl!!

Seven Months Old!

Can someone please stop the clock? Time is going by way too fast! Seven months already?! Whoa. This little girl is growing and changing every day. I turn around and discover she has learned something new all the time. It doesn't seem real that Giuliana is 7 months old. I will probably say that every single month, but each time it rolls around, I'm in awe at how fast the time has gone by. She is a quick little one and pretty soon she will be running all over our house!

Month 7 Accomplishments (according to Mom & Dad)

*Giuliana is crawling! Oh yes, the cute little scoot is now officially a crawl. She's still working out the details but for the most part she gets around pretty well.

*She can hold herself up on our ottoman with us standing her up. Ummm yeah, there will be no question that we are absolutely in for it once she learns how to get up on her own.

*She loves her fruit! Her fruit teether is her new BFF and I'm pretty sure mangoes are her favorite :)

*She lifts up her arms to be picked up and it is the cutest thing ever!

*Giuliana is obsessed with tags. Tags on pillows, blankets, clothes, you name it. If there is a tag on it, she will find it! They are more appealing to her than the actual item she has found.

Stop growing baby girl! But happy 7 month birthday to our Giuliana!
P.S: she STILL has not cut any teeth....

Our Weekend in Pictures

It was another gorgeous weekend in San Diego filled with a few of our favorite things! Photo shoots, shopping, walking, and putting Giuliana's toes in the sand for the first time! Karl and I took Giuliana for a walk in Liberty Station, one of our favorite places. There is a playground there where we always see a ton of kids playing around. For the first time ever, we can now join in the fun! We put her in one of the swings and then put her toes in the sand. She didn't hate it, but I think she was trying to figure out what this new feeling was. She also stuck her hands in the sand and surprisingly didn't put them directly in her mouth. That's a first. Overall I think our girl is going to like the outdoors :)

Short Days, Long Nights

We've a few long nights over here to put it mildly. Most of the time, Giuliana is a happy and playful girl, but has been having moments of extreme restlessness mostly occurring all hours of the night. It has been routine lately for her to wake up within just a few hours of going to sleep--after being consoled, rocked, rubbed, whatever method works at that point! But the other night, I woke up to what I thought was a typical midnight waking, only to see THIS:

Yes, that is Giuliana, sitting up in her crib. Now you may not think that's unusual because she has been able to sit up for a few weeks. But what is unusual is the fact that she doesn't, or didn't, know how to sit up on her own from a laying down position before this point. I nearly jumped out of bed and ran straight into the wall (not before I somehow managed to snap this picture to send to Karl, because of course he was at work for this particular shenanigan) and hurried to her room. I rocked her to sleep again because I didn't want her to remember her new accomplishment and try it again, but who was I kidding? At 2:30am it was round two. I saw her sitting up again, only this time next to the front edge of the crib trying to pull herself up. There was no time for a photo. Is this what almost 7 month olds do??

So last night we adjusted the crib to the lowest possible setting so we don't have any more middle of the night scares when this one makes her first attempts at sneaking out. Because you know that's totally happening.

I guess with this never-ending teething experience, combined with all the new developmental leaps she is making, sleep is just really not high on her priority list. Well let me tell you Miss Giuliana, sleep is on the top of my list right there with a bottle of wine :)

We just hope she is able to get back on track after her teeth come in. It's terrible to see her so restless at night and not knowing what she wants other than just being held. Which is ok by me, even if it is every other hour of the night and I end up falling asleep on my keyboard the next day.
