Eat, Drink, and be SCARY!

Giuliana's First Halloween!

OK seriously, could she be any cuter?! We had a great time dressing her up in all of her fun Halloween clothes. Her onesie is just a teeny bit too big, but it adds some definite cuteness don't you think! We are so excited to hand out candy tonight at my parents' house for their annual chili Halloween night. Can't wait until she is old enough to trick-or-treat. Hope you all have a fun and safe night as well.

Happy Halloween!

This adorable Snow White costume was sent by Karl's mom and is perfect for our little princess.

Some behind the scenes moments...
Mom, we seriously gotta talk about this....the flower on my headband is bigger than my face!

It's so big I can't even hold my head up! Whoaaaaa watch out!

Hey hey hey what are you guys trying to hide back there?!

Giuliana's Nursery Tour

We (by we I mean I) had so much fun picking out the furniture and decorations for Giuliana's nursery! Picking it out is one thing, putting it together is another. Yikes. Thanks daddy Karl! I'm pretty sure he wanted to kill me after he put everything together and then I decided I didn't like the original changing table I ordered so I bought a new one at IKEA.  And thennnn I couldn't decide how I wanted to place the furniture around the room so I asked him to move it about a thousand times. After many many sighs and flared nostrils, we got it just right! Here it is.

Back on the Wagon

Wine. Oh how I missed you. After the longest hiatus from my dearest wine and cocktails, we are reunited (occasionally) and it feels so good! As many of you know I was looking forward to this moment for quite a while. Judging from the amount of alcohol we received as gifts I must have mentioned that a time or two. Thank you all for the champagne! Karl and I also ventured out a couple weeks after little G's arrival and went to dinner at Stone Brewery for his birthday. This was also probably the first time I wore makeup and put on real clothes :)  Cheers!

Daddy & Me

This is just too damn cute I can't resist. After a long night, she (finally) fell asleep in daddy's arms.

Month One Favorites

Here are some of our favorite items we have discovered in the first month!

1. Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets These things are the best! They are lightweight and perfect for creating the most straight jacket type swaddle you can make.

2. Onesies All day, every day. Thank goodness for onesies. They are simple and easy to get on and off which is especially nice when spit up ends up all over your little baby.

3. Boon Farm Drying Rack I love this thing. My mom thought I was crazy for wanting (needing in my mind) this nifty thing. It holds all the bottle parts and pacifiers while looking great on my counter top. Who doesn't love accessories?!

4. Soothie Pacifiers I was reluctant to give Giuliana a pacifier in the first place but when she wouldn't stop eating her hands we figured it was time. These pacifiers are true to their name and soothe her even during the worst of meltdowns. They make me think of baby Lisa from The Simpson's show because it is so big it takes up half of her face.

5. Goodnight Moon The perfect book to read before bed! And in the morning, we change the words to Good Morning Moon.

6. Johnson's Baby Bedtime Bath & Lotion As if baby lotion didn't smell heavenly already. I love putting this on her after bath time, she smells so good!

One Month Old!

Happy 1 month birthday G! Wow, it has already been one month since we welcomed our sweet baby Giuliana, can you believe it?! We sure can't! It has flown by, but not without many proud moments for our baby girl!

Month 1 Accomplishments--According to Mom & Dad (so that means pretty much everything!)

*This little girl can hold her head up like you wouldn't believe and can climb you like a tree. She is going to be off and running in no time! We are in for it...

*She smiles at us when she is asleep and awake and although its probably gas, we like to think its because she knows how funny we are and she loves our baby talk.

*Her little eyes are focusing more and more each day and soon she really will be able to recognize mom and dad!

*She had her first blowout in her pack n' play AND she so sweetly pooped on mom while she was trying to dry her off after bath time.

*She has excellent aim when spitting up and is careful not to make it onto the burp cloth, just down your shirt and everywhere BUT the burp cloth.

*She also has perfect timing and likes to pee immediately after we take her diaper off to change her--resulting in a soaking wet back, outfit, and changing pad. She also likes to do this immediately following a bath--while you're holding her in your arms trying to dry her off. Girl plays jokes already!

Her very first bath! Surprisingly she loved it, much more than the sponge baths we were giving her at first.

And...I'm pretty sure she was peeing on me as this picture was taken. Pretty sure she is giving us the finger also. I guess we should have been more concerned about drying her off than taking a picture.

If there is one thing we learned in baby class, it was the importance of the swaddle. This little straight jack mechanism is a godsend especially when you have a child who likes to flail her arms all over the place, therefore knocking pacifiers out of her mouth in the middle of the night causing the infamous beginning of a  meltdown. Karl has gotten pretty good at this, as you can see. (Almost as good as the Kaiser nurses!) Me on the other hand, it's a work in progress.

And our second photo shoot! Happy one month birthday Giuliana!

Giuliana's First Photoshoot

Although she wasn't the happiest camper during most of the shoot, she played it off very well!

The First Few Weeks

The Khoury's are now a family of three! Bringing Giuliana home from the hospital and getting settled has been quite the experience. Learning all about our baby girl has been exciting and tough (sleep? What is sleep?!) at some moments but the most amazing time in our lives. We just love the many facial expressions she makes and the fact that her hands are always in fists up by her face. I wonder if she will be a boxer? She is the cutest, most precious thing and we couldn't be more happy and proud that she is our daughter!

Giuliana's Birth Story

After nine months of (im)patiently waiting for our baby girl to arrive, we were told by the doctor's that I would be induced on September 7 which was her actual due date. We had an appointment set for 9pm, but the hospital called early that morning to tell us we could come in at any time. Immediately I began repacking my bag and her bag over and over making sure we had just what we would need. Were we really going to have a baby today?! Karl and I left the house and looked at each other knowing we were leaving as two and would be coming back as three! We checked into the hospital at about 1pm and began the induction process. After several hours, they broke my water and it was a whirlwind experience from there. The most intense contractions ever...check. Epidural? Yes, please! A few hours later it was time to push and at 10:24pm on September 7, our precious baby girl was born! She weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long. We were both overwhelmed with emotion and love and couldn't believe she was finally here. Is it possible to love someone so much?! We couldn't stop staring at her and saying how cute and beautiful she was. Family and friends had been in the waiting room for hours and they popped a bottle of celebratory champagne when she was born. Cheers to you Miss Giuliana!

Our last photo as just the two of us! Then...BAM! We are officially parents to a beautiful baby girl.

And now our first photo as a family of 3! :)
