To say 2013 has been a busy year is a huge understatement. On New Year's Day, Karl and I found out we were expecting our first bundle of joy. A perfect end to 2012, our amazing wedding in March, and all of the holiday festivities to close out the year. Finding out we were going to have a baby was one of the best moments in our lives, right up there with the moment she came into this world *more on that later* :) Shortly after we received the exciting news, we found and purchased a townhouse to make our home for our expanding family. Bring on the packing boxes with ice cream and pickles in hand! There's nothing like finding out you're having a baby and moving into a new house to throw you into extreme panic and excitement mode! Nevertheless, we made it happen and settled in and began preparing for our Little Baby Khoury to arrive.

The first trimester went much smoother than I thought; I didn't really get sick or feel horrible at all. I had a few moments but nothing compared to the horror stories of morning sickness I've heard. We were both still so excited and getting used to the idea that there was really a baby growing inside my belly. There are no words to explain the moment when you see a heartbeat on the monitor screen in the doctor's office. From that point we knew our lives had changed forever.

The second trimester was even better than the first. Feeling great, we couldn't wait to find out the gender so we could stop calling the baby "it". We decided to get the results and have the technician write it down on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope because we wanted to have a gender reveal party. I gave the envelope to my Grandma who was going to crochet a pink or blue blanket we would use to make the big announcement. EVERYONE, including Karl and I were sure it would be a boy. Turns out the majority of us were wrong and Little Baby Khoury was a GIRL! We couldn't have been more excited and start shopping for all things PINK!

The third trimester. Well, It was great until the last few weeks when San Diego decided to get a huge heat wave along with miserable humidity. Those last days were loooooong I must say. But we made it through. I was very lucky to have a healthy and easy pregnancy. I didn't have any crazy cravings but I did all of a sudden have a huge NEED for mangoes...all the time. Along with my daily serving, or two of desert. Every. Single. Day. Our baby girl will likely come out bouncing off the walls from all the sugar I consumed. Yipee!
