Sniffles, Snuggles & Sneezes

So our little Giuliana has been experiencing her first 'under the weather week'. I say under the weather rather than sick because she really isn't acting sick, just stuffed up--no fever, no cough, no vomiting--we think it is directly related to teething. Which, speaking of, there are still NO teeth. This is a joke. It's as if she has been teething for friggin ever. Just come already and then leave us alone for a while! Anyway, she's been extremely stuffed up with the runniest nose I have ever seen. I wouldn't have believed how much snot could really come out of a child's nose. Like, whoa. It all started last Sunday when I went to get her out of her crib in the morning and noticed a giant snot glob resting below her nose and above her lip...on the verge of making its way down to her mouth. Oh no! I scurried around the room for a wipe and cleaned her up just in time. I decided to forgo our morning walk and keep her inside and she still seemed tired, so we snuggled on the couch and she fell asleep. Fast forward 5 days, emails to the doctor, saline spray, snot suctioning and a few long nights, she is still stuffed up. Breaks my heart to see my baby turned mouth-breather dripping in snot and drool all day long. This hasn't slowed her down in the playing department, however. She's mastered holding her bottle and is now thisclose to crawling! She can scoot around and turn, but she hasn't quite figured out how to use her arms and legs at the same time. Although she doesn't seem amused, we certainly are when we see that her head is buried in the ground because she got her legs to work but not the arms. You can't help but chuckle a little inside when her butt is up in the air and she sort of looks like a little snail.

Being that she is super stuffed up, and still drooling ALL over the place, resulting in 6 outfit changes a day and a bazillion bibs, she has a hard time breathing when sleeping or trying to eat. The very day we got our whole house cleaned and she was eating avocado for dinner, a sneeze came on at the worst possible time. What do you get with a mouth full of avocado, mom's face in your face, and a sparkly clean dinner table and floor? You see where I'm going with this...it went ALL OVER me and the table. Why do we even bother?? After the initial shock, we did have a laugh. But still. Not cool.

Just a glimpse of the mess that it was
So, we're hoping little G gets rid of this runny nose soon and gains some teeth along the way so we can all have a break from this awesome milestone.

Our Weekend in Pictures

What a beautiful weekend it was here in San Diego! Summer in March is what it felt like. We had a very nice brunch with our Little G who sat in her very first highchair to join us; of course after waking up 20 minutes into her nap as soon as we sat down :) that must be a sixth sense kids have...hehe Mom and Dad think they're going to have brunch without me? I'll show them!

Nonetheless we had a great time and people couldn't help but stop by our table to tell us how cute she was and baby talk in her face. In other news, there are still no teeth popping up yet but I'm convinced they are on the brink. The drool is so out of control we have started calling her Drooliana. I can't even imagine what she will look like with a little tooth!

We are still introducing new foods, and have already discovered what a healthy appetite she has, although, come on, we weren't really that surprised. So far the foods on Giuliana's menu are butternut squash, cauliflower, bananas, avocados, sweet potatoes, and mangoes--which she loves! I guess all those mangoes I ate while I was pregnant paved the way for that one. She hasn't turned down a single food and I'm pretty sure she won't :) Her attempts at crawling are in full force and she gets very frustrated when her legs won't do what she wants. When she's over that, she grabs our hands so she can stand up. Screw this crawling thing...I'm ready to walk people! Every day we watch her blow our minds with how fast she is learning and how insanely curious she is! This is a really fun age, I can't even imagine what the future holds.

Someone loves mangoes like her mama

Six Months Old!

Wow, wow, wow, I really cannot believe that half a year has gone by since Giuliana was born. I know time flies and everything, but the past six months really have flown by. It seems like just the other day she was born, and now its like she's all grown up. At her 6 month checkup the other day the doctor said she is a healthy little girl and we couldn't be more happy to hear that. She currently weighs 15 pounds 12 ounces (whoaaaa!) which is the 45th percentile for weight and she is 26 inches long, 55th percentile for height. Best thing about this doctor's appointment? Hearing that she doesn't have to get any more shots until she is 1 year old! Watching her get shots is probably the worst thing ever. In addition to that good news, here are the latest updates on our little G.

6 Month Accomplishments...According to Mom and Dad

*Giuliana can pretty much sit up on her own. She has her moments where she starts to look like the leaning tower of Pisa but for the most part, she is able to hold herself up and play with toys in front of her.

*Although she isn't crawling just yet, she can spin around like a helicopter to see whats going on around her and grab her toys. Or when she wants to play tricks on us when she should be sleeping in her crib. Look what I can do!

*She fully recognizes her bottle and immediately goes crazy once she sees it. She is also thisclose to holding it herself.

*As far as her introduction to foods, she has had rice cereal, oatmeal, butternut squash, and bananas. Her face is pretty cute when she realizes its something other than bland cereal and so far she's done very well with the new foods. Some upcoming menu items will include avocado, cauliflower, peas (gross), and other yummy fruits.

Happy half birthday Giuliana!!

Updates to Come

I can't believe Giuliana will be 6 months old tomorrow! I already know I will be behind on getting her pictures and updates for her 6 month progress and check up done so stay tuned, they will be posted soon! We're off to the doctor tomorrow to find out where she is on the charts (possibly off the charts at this point?!) and more shots. :( Not looking forward to that part at all.
