Potty Training Tales & Top Knots

Soooooo, we've been potty training Giuliana for the past few weeks since I was off work the week of New Year's. She has been going to the bathroom in the toilet off and on since about 18 months but we never forced or fully pursued it until now. She is still very young but we felt it was a good time since I would be off work and let's be honest, we're over diapers. Every time I turn around the Diaper Genie is full and there are about two diapers left in the whole house. You'd think by now we would have our shit together, but lo and behold the diapers vanish like socks and hair ties. So, we bit the bullet and went for it. She did very well considering, but it also seemed like she was either playing games with us or just totally rebelling at certain times. For the first few days she had an accident, which isn't a big deal, except she would do it after me taking her into the bathroom a million times before. That's when I decided to say eff it and I bought a bag of M&Ms to bribe her. Yep, and I am not sorry. Since the implementation of the 'treats' she has only had a handful of accidents and all of them have been with the #2. She waits until the last second as it is, so I guess I can understand how that happens. But I am happy to report that aside from these incidents she is pretty much there. Even driving in the car to Big Bear she would tell us when she needed to go and at times will wake up dry from naps or make us take her to the bathroom in the middle of the night. So proud of our girl!

Other than that huge accomplishment, we've been playing with the new toys, getting into new movies (Despicable Me, Frozen) and hanging out! Auntie Andrea put together the kitchen G got for Christmas (a whole other post, I mean nightmare!) and that has been a hit.

And bath time continues to be a great, messy, nonstop splashing event. She literally stands there and stomps her feet as hard as she can. Her hair is growing and it is so long now! I just can't resist putting it in a little pony tail or these adorable top knots. I mean come on!! This age is so fun. I've never been schooled by a 2 year-old but this little girl has the attitude of a teenager. While it can be daunting at times, I have to give it ther. She is persistent like no other and her independence...oh boy you better just watch out.

Dear Giuliana: Your First Trip to the Snow!

Hi Love Love. This past weekend we took you on your first trip to the snow up to Big Bear. We rented a cabin for Auntie Charline's birthday with some friends and took off for a long holiday weekend. We're still working on potty training, but for the most part you're doing so well! You didn't sleep in the car of course, which was what we were hoping for, but then again you skipped naps for the rest of the weekend anyway. We took you out on the deck as soon as we got there, only to find out your snow boots were too small. High top Chucks it was! It was so fun to see your face and watch you play in it so curiously. The back part of the house had a hill so we make a sled trail. I think we had more fun than you because we kept falling off trying not to go through the fence. Then you tried to go down on your stomach. Who are you girl! We also took you to go snow tubing and one of the parks up there. It was packed, but we knew you would love it. It was like the grown up version of Winter Wonderland at Petco Park. I watched on the sidelines as you and Dad took your tube up the hill. You would sit in it and let him pull you up and I thought that was hilarious. I snuck in for the last run and we held our tubes together and took the greatest video of us! You didn't stop smiling and asked to go again when we got to the bottom. I love that you are a little thrill seeker and are not scared of a thing. I hope it stays that way! Other than that, we relaxed, watched movies, and chased you around the cabin. It was a great little getaway and I can't wait to go again. Next year we're getting you on a snowboard girlfriend!
